A torque limiter protects a drive from overload. When the torque rises above a preset value, for example when a conveyor jams or a crusher meets tramp metal, the torque limiter slips and stops the excess torque from reaching the gearbox, motor and machine. Kavitsu Transmissions manufactures torque limiters in Satara, Maharashtra, to protect our own gearboxes and other drives.
A torque limiter costs a fraction of a gearbox repair, and it can prevent a long, costly shutdown.
To recommend the right model quickly, please share:
Rated torque of the drive and the required slip torque
Shaft diameter and keyway
Connecting element: sprocket, pulley or coupling
Speed of the shaft where it is fitted
Type of overload: jam, shock or start-up
Every Kavitsu unit is assembled and tested in-house at Satara before dispatch. Test certificates and GA drawings are supplied with project and export orders.

Spring pressure holds friction linings between the driving and driven parts. When the torque exceeds the set value, the linings slip, so the excess torque does not reach the machine.
Yes. The slip torque is set by adjusting the spring pressure to suit the drive's working load.
It is usually fitted between the gearbox and the driven machine, or between the motor and the gearbox, with a sprocket, pulley or coupling.
